Virtual Reality Porn News December 2022

Our monthly roundup of the top VR porn related news stories, including a study that has shown that VR porn can improve a man’s sperm quality, and the development of a new haptic ‘skin’ that can simulate touch in VR.

Researchers Say VR Porn Improves Sperm Quality

Did you know that watching VR porn makes you bigger, last longer in bed, and more attractive to females? Well, I am only speculating upon those things, but the good news is that scientists say that VR porn can actually improve your sperm quality. It’s been long known that the sperm counts of males across the Western World have been falling for decades, something attributed to pollution among other things. The problem is so great, that some fear that if the trend continues, humans may actually die out. But an exciting new study published last month has claimed that VR porn may be the solution.

A study by Danish sperm bank Cryos International Sperm and Egg Bank, the University of Sheffield and Queen’s University looks at the effect of virtual reality, or more specifically VR porn, on sperm production. It is the first study of its kind and now the initial results are available.

Previous research already showed that consuming porn in 2D during masturbation can increase sperm quality. In the new study, 63 sperm donors in Denmark were allowed to consume erotic content in VR since mid-2021 and made a total of 504 donations. One group of subjects was given VR headsets for the test, while the comparison group watched on ordinary monitors.

The results were surprising: within the test scenario, the study showed the benefits of VR when masturbating. On average, the sperm count of the test subjects increased by up to 50 percent. But time also plays a role: the aforementioned effect was achieved with short intervals of a maximum of 14 hours between sperm donations.

Haptic hydrogel “skin” simulates touch in VR and AR

Researchers are closer to achieving the holy grail for VR porn fans – developing electronic skin that can perfectly simulate the sense of touching another body! Horny professors at the University of Hong Kong have created ‘skin’ made out of haptic hydrogel material that is thin and yet has no less than 32 electrodes spread out along the palm, thumb, and fingers.

The hydrogel is dotted with 32 electrodes spread across the palm, thumb and fingers, and electrical currents are sent through these to produce tactile sensations. By stimulating certain combinations of these electrodes at varying strengths, the team says that the WeTac system can simulate a range of experiences. In demos, that includes catching a tennis ball, or feeling a virtual mouse walk across your hand. Sensations could even be ramped up to be uncomfortable (but short of being painful), to give a bit of negative feedback for actions like touching a digital cactus.

Is Terminal18 The First Adult Metaverse?

A French startup project is developing what they hope will become the adult metaverse. As the sex tech writer ‘xhumanist‘ points out, the potential profits of the future adult metaverse are almost unlimited, and it’s surprising that thus far, there have been relatively few attempts at building one.

Well now a team of three ambitious young French entrepreneurs has begun to stake a claim for control of the adult metaverse. Calling their project ‘Terminal18’, they intend to establish a metaverse for the adult industry through the creation of a virtual city where ‘brands, users, and creators’ can buy land, upon which they can then set up their adult related shop, business, or activity. The team have laid out a detailed road map towards their final Terminal18 goal, with the first concrete realization of their project expected to be a mobile app in Q1 of next year.

Megan Thee Stallion ‘Is The Closest So Far To An adult App On Quest

Live action VR concert footage of a racy American rapper by the name of Megan Thee Stallion has been called the closest thing to adult content allowed on the Oculus App Lab so far. That is, by the respected VR news journal ‘Road To VR‘.

The app was developed by AmazeVR, which worked directly with Megan Thee Stallion to capture high quality 3D footage of her performances with a moving camera, making it feel like you’re floating right next to her as she sings and dances. The live action capture is integrated with a pre-rendered CG environment, and the app smartly adds some minimal real-time elements into the scene to blur the line between pre-rendered and real-time. All in all it’s a very well executed and on-brand take on a VR concert experience (though sadly missing the key ability to watch with friends).

The excellent capture quality actually made it ever so slightly unnerving to be that close to the artist, who in some of the performances is essentially giving you a personal strip tease. And while functionally there’s no nudity, the performance definitely couldn’t be called ‘safe for work’.
